Getting Started

Download the Cosmo App

The Cosmo app is available on both iOS and Android. Search "Cosmo: Family Connection" in the App Store or Google Play and install it on your phone.

  • iOS: Search 'Cosmo: Family Connection' in the App Store
  • Android: Search 'Cosmo: Family Connection' in Google Play
  • Or use this link to find the app: https://ct.watch/cosmo
Note:

The home screen auto-refreshes location if the last update is more than 3 minutes old.

Create Your Parent Profile

If you're new to Cosmo, complete the following:

Step 1  Enter your name and email address

Step 2  Add a profile photo.  —  This appears on your child's watch when you call.

Step 3  Confirm your email.  —  Check your email inbox and tap the Confirm Email button.

Step 4  Enter your child's name, birthday, and a photo. There is additional information that is optional to fill out about your child.

Pair the Watch & Add Your Child's Profile

Step 1  Power on the JT5 SE.  —  Press and hold the right-side button for 2 seconds. Allow any updates to complete.

Step 2  Pair the watch.  —  The Cosmo app will check to pair the device and a screen will pop up to pair on your app.

Step 3  Tap Connect.

Step 5 Choose your Membership and Cosmo Care plan.

Step 6 You will receive an email confirmation with your watch's phone number. This typically takes a few minutes.

Step 7 Up next, configure all the settings on your device.

Note:  All Cosmo Memberships include a 30-day money back guarantee.

Note:

It may take up to 24 hours for cellular data to be fully activated. WiFi features work immediately after pairing.

Home Screen & Navigation

What You See on the Home Screen

The home screen shows a map with your child's watch pinned to their current location. For each child you'll see:

  • Child's name and profile photo
  • Current address and timestamp of the last location update
  • Battery level indicator
  • Map pin — tap it to start Live Tracking
Note:

The home screen auto-refreshes location if the last update is more than 3 minutes old.

Navigating the App

The main navigation gives you access to:

  • Home — Map view with child location
  • Activity — Chronological feed of device and account events
  • Controls — Child Profile/devices, My account, My parent portal, Push notifications, Support, Sign out
  • Child Profile — Routines, Contacts, Guardians, Alarms, App station, Fitness, Location tracking, Preset Messages, Safety features, Location history, Call history, Remove device

Switching Between Children

If you have multiple children on your account, tap the child selector at the top of the home screen or map to switch between profiles. Or you can view profiles in the control section of settings.

Location Tracking

Viewing Your Child's Location

Your child's current location appears as a pin on the home screen map. Tap the pin to start Live tracking. Each location entry is listed in the Location history. That information can be accessed in the child profile page.

Tip:

Enabling WiFi on the watch improves indoor location accuracy.

Automatic Location Updates

The app regularly checks your child's location based on the interval you configure.

  • Default interval: every 30 minutes.
  • Configurable intervals: 5, 10, 15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes
  • You can also choose to receive updates 24 hours a day or limit them to a custom time window
  • Updates can be turned off completely if preferred

How to change the update frequency:

Step 1  Go to your child's profile in the app.

Step 2  Tap Location tracking

Step 3  Choose your preferred interval and time window.

Step 4  Tap blue check mark to save.

Note:

More frequent updates use more battery. Setting updates to every 5 minutes will significantly reduce battery life compared to the 30-minute default. For best battery performance, keep the default or use a limited daily window.

Live Tracking

Live Tracking activates real-time HaloGPS, updating location every 5–10 seconds for up to 15 minutes.

Step 1  Tap your child's pin on the home screen map.

Step 2  Tap Track to start Live Tracking.

Step 3  A pulsing green pin will confirm the session is active.

Step 4  The session ends automatically after 15 minutes, or tap x early to stop sooner.

Locations captured during a Live Tracking session are saved in 10-second increments and appear in Location History.

Note:

Live Tracking drains battery quickly. Use it when you need real-time reassurance — not as a regular setting. If a connection can't be established within 2 minutes, the session times out automatically.

Location History

Review a timestamped trail of every place the watch has been.

Step 1  Tap control, select the child/device open to your child's profile and tap Location History.

Step 2  The view defaults to today. Use the calendar to select a different date.

Step 3  Each entry shows the time, address, and location method (GPS, WiFi, or cellular).

Step 4  View by dates by selecting the blue calendar icon.

Note:

Location history is retained even if the watch is temporarily unpaired from the app.

Contacts & Communication

Understanding Contact Types

Your child can only communicate with contacts you've explicitly approved. There are three types:

  • Primary Parent (star icon) — You. Always listed first, always an approved contact.
  • Guardian (shield icon) — A trusted adult with their own login. Can call, text, and see location.
  • Buddy (Cosmo 'C' logo) — A friend with a JT5 SE watch, added via the Buddy system. Can call and text.
  • Contact — Anyone else you add manually. Can call and text only.

Adding a Contact

Step 1 Tap control, select the child/device open to your child's profile and tap Contacts.

Step 2  Tap Add contact, you can either select from your contacts or create a new contact.

Step 3  Enter the contact's name, country code, and phone number.

Step 4  Select which child profile(s) the contact applies to.

Step 5  Tap Save. The contact appears on the watch immediately.

Note:

Contacts don't need to download any app or accept an invite — once you add them, they can call and text the watch right away.

Removing a Contact

Step 1  Tap control, select the child/device open to your child's profile and tap Contacts.

Step 2  Tap Remove Contact.

The contact is removed from the watch immediately and can no longer call or text your child.

Managing Buddies

The Buddy feature lets two children with JT5 SE watches add each other as contacts — with both parents approving first.

How it works:

  1. Both watches must be nearby with Bluetooth enabled.
  2. Each child opens the Add a Buddy app (purple icon on the last app page) and finds each other.
  3. Both children tap the checkmark to confirm.
  4. A pending request will appear in each parent's Cosmo app under their child's Contacts and on the Activities page.
  5. From controls, select the child's name that has a blue indicator next to their photo, select contacts, select review, select approve or reject.
  6. Both parents must tap Approve in the app. Once both approve, the kids can call and text each other.
  7. You can also delete a buddy following the same instructions as deleting a contact.

Removing a Buddy:

  1. In the Cosmo app, go to your child's Contacts.
  2. Tap the contact you want to remove.
  3. Select Remove Contact. The contact is removed immediately from both the app and the watch.
Note:

Buddy requests generate a push notification in the Connection Requests category — make sure this notification category is enabled so you don't miss a request.

Call History

Review your child's call activity at any time.

Step 1  Open your child's profile and tap Call History.

Step 2  View incoming, outgoing, missed, and rejected calls with timestamps and duration.

Step 3  Outgoing emergency (911) calls are also listed.

Step 4  Use the filter to sort by call category.

Reviewing Your Child's Messages

Parents can view the full message history from the parent portal (not currently in the Cosmo app). Log into  parent.cosmotogether.com to view full message history.

Privacy note:

Your child cannot see when you review their messages.

Guardians & Family Management

What Is a Guardian?

A guardian is a trusted adult — a co-parent, grandparent, or caregiver — who gets their own Cosmo app login. Guardians can see your child's location, call and text the watch, and receive SOS alerts, without having access to billing or account settings.

Inviting a Guardian

  1. In the app, go to your child's profile and tap Guardians.
  2. Tap the + button and enter the guardian's name and email.
  3. The guardian will receive an email from no-reply@cosmotogether.com with an invitation.
  4. The guardian downloads the Cosmo app, creates an account. The invite will pop up during onboarding if the guardian is a new user or if they are a current user it will appear in Controls or their activities in the Cosmo app.
  5. They now have full access to the following:
  • view child on map with the shield icon
  • access the child profile in Controls
  • receive child activities and push notifications
  • can edit child profile, location settings, and safety settings
  • can manage location tracking, contacts, safezones, focus times, and preset messages
  • can view call history and fitness history
Note:

Once accepted, the guardian is automatically added as an approved contact on the watch with a shield icon.

What Guardians Can and Can't Do

Guardians share most day-to-day controls with the primary parent, but a few things are reserved for the Admin only.

Feature Primary Parent (Admin) Guardian
Receive SOS alerts & notifications
Call & text the watch
Edit child profile & location settings
Manage contacts, safezones, preset messages
View call history & fitness history
Manage focus times
Manage subscription & billing
Add or remove devices
Delete child profile
Remove other guardians

Removing a Guardian

Only the primary parent can remove a guardian. Go to your child's profile, tap Guardians, tap the guardian's name, and select Remove. You can choose to remove their guardian access only, or remove them as a contact too.

Note:

Guardians can also remove themselves from a child profile at any time.

Routines

What Are Routines?

Routines automatically adjust what the watch can do based on your child's location, the time of day, or both. Instead of manually switching settings on and off, you set a Routine once and the watch handles the rest. The most common use is School Routine — which puts the watch into a focused, distraction-free mode the moment your child arrives on campus.

Note:

School Routine is not available until July 25, 2026. The Routines feature is currently in development — refer to the Cosmo app for the latest setup flow.

Setting Up a Routine

Step 1  In the app, tap Routines, then tap Add Routine

Step 2  Search for your location. If it doesn't appear, type the address manually.

Step 3  Adjust the schedule as needed (days and hours).

Step 4  Set the restriction level.

Step 5  Tap Save.

How School Routine Works

School Routine is not available until July 27, 2026.

School Routine uses both GPS location and the schedule you set. It only activates when your child is physically on school grounds during scheduled hours — so if they're home sick, it stays off automatically. No manual override needed.

  • Fully restricted: only SOS will be available
  • Partially restricted: call and message parent, guardians and 911 if enabled
  • Unrestricted: device will function normally
  • When the school day ends, the watch automatically returns to normal mode
  • Children cannot deactivate School Routine — Primary and Guardians can modify or turn it off

Setting Up School Routine

Step 1  In the app, tap Routines, then tap Add School Routine.

Step 2  Search for your child's school by name. If it doesn't appear, type the address manually.

Step 3  Review or adjust the school schedule (days and hours).

Step 4  Set the restriction level — from limited (guardians only) to fully locked (time display only).

Step 5  Tap Save.

Once active, School Routine will automatically switch the watch into focused mode when your child is on school grounds during scheduled hours. When they leave campus, the watch automatically returns to normal mode.

How it works:  School Routine uses both GPS location AND the schedule you set. If your child is home sick, it stays off — no manual override needed.

Routines: What's Blocked and What's Always On

  • Fully restricted: only SOS will be available
  • Partially restricted: call and message parent, guardians and 911 if enabled
  • Unrestricted: device will function normally
  • When the Routine ends, the watch automatically returns to normal mode
  • Children cannot deactivate a Routine — Primary and Guardians can modify or turn it off
Tip:

Arrival and departure notifications are triggered based on your location update frequency. For faster notifications when your child arrives at or leaves school, reduce the update interval OR enable real-time detection— but keep battery impact in mind.

Alarms & Reminders

Setting Alarms from the App

  1. In the Cosmo app, open the Controls menu and tap Activity Center.
  2. Tap Alarms, then tap the blue + button.
  3. Set the alarm time, name, and days of the week. Tap Save.

Alarms set from the parent app appear on the watch with a gold star. Your child cannot edit or delete parent-set alarms.

Setting Alarms from the Watch

  1. On the watch, swipe to the second app page and tap the yellow Alarms app.
  2. Tap New Alarm, set the time and repeat schedule, and tap the blue checkmark to save.
Note:

Alarms you set from the app appear on the watch with a gold star. Your child can see them but cannot edit or delete parent-set alarms.

App Station

What Is App Station?

App Station is the parent-controlled app store for the watch. You decide which apps are installed — your child cannot install apps themselves.

Accessing App Station

Step 1  Go to your child's profile in the Cosmo app.

Step 2  Tap App Station.

Step 3  Review available apps in the App library and Installed apps on the watch.

Note:

Apps must be downloaded over WiFi. Make sure the watch is connected to a WiFi network before installing.

Installing an App

Step 1  Browse the available apps in App Station.

Step 2  Tap Download next to any app.

Step 3  The app appears on the watch once the download is complete.

Note:

Music apps (Spotify, Spotify Kids, iHeartRadio) only stream over WiFi — they do not work over cellular.

Setting App Time Limits

Step 1  In App Station, tap on any installed app.

Step 2  Tap Set Time Limit and choose a daily allowance.

Step 3  Once the limit is reached, the app locks until the next calendar day.

Removing an App

Step 1  In App Station, find the installed app.

Step 2  Tap Uninstall.

The app is removed from the watch remotely. Note: apps remain on the watch even if it's temporarily unpaired — they are only removed when you uninstall via App Station.

Fitness

Viewing Step Activity

The Cosmo app tracks your child's daily steps, streaks, and fitness history. Access it from your child's profile.

  • Today's step count and current streak are shown at the top
  • A step chart shows activity trends over time
  • Data updates every 6 hours; the latest data is fetched when you open the fitness view
  • History is available in daily, 7-day, and 31-day views

Setting a Step Goal

The default daily step goal is 5,000 steps. To change it:

Step 1  Open your child's Fitness view.

Step 2  Tap the goal number or the edit icon.

Step 3  Enter a new daily target and save. Feel free to also adjust their biometrics to be more accurate as needed.

Note:

You'll receive a push notification when your child reaches their daily step goal. Make sure the Step/Fitness Goals notification category is enabled in Notification Settings.

Preset Messages

What Are Preset Messages?

Preset messages are quick-reply options loaded on the watch, so your child can respond with a tap instead of typing. The default presets cover common scenarios like 'I’m at school' or 'Call me'. You can fully customize them.

Managing Presets

Step 1  Go to your child's profile and tap Preset Messages.

Step 2  You'll see the current list of presets.

  • Add — Tap the +Add message button and type a new message.
  • Edit — Tap any message to edit the text.
  • Save  — Tap blue check mark to save
  • Reorder — Press and hold a message to drag it to a new position.
  • Delete — Swipe or tap to delete a message.
  • Restore defaults — Use the Restore Defaults option to reset all presets to the original set.
Note:

Changes are applied to the watch after you save from the Preset Messages screen and navigate away from that section.

Safety Settings

Accessing Safety Settings

Safety settings are found in your child's profile under Safety Features. Changes are saved when you navigate back and synced to the watch automatically.

Emergency Calling (911)

911 calling is off by default. When enabled, your child can dial 911 directly from the watch with a double-confirmation step and 5-second countdown to prevent accidental calls.

  • Toggle Emergency Calling on or off from Safety Features in the child profile.
  • When on, 911 appears as an option in the watch phone app.
Note:

Emergency calling is not available if the watch is in a fully restricted Routine.

Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA)

Wireless Emergency Alerts are government-issued alerts (e.g., AMBER Alerts, severe weather). This is enabled by default. Toggle it off if you prefer the watch not to receive these alerts.

Voice Transcription

When enabled, voice notes sent to the watch are automatically transcribed into text, making them easier for your child to read. Toggle on or off from Safety Features.

SOS Mode

SOS is always available — it cannot be disabled by a parent. Your child activates it by holding the Power button for 5 seconds. A silent 15-second countdown runs before the alert sends, to prevent accidents.

  • An immediate alert is sent to the primary parent and all guardians (note, push notifications need to be used for SOS and emergencies notifications)
  • Live Tracking activates automatically
  • Calling the watch while SOS is active connects silently — you can hear what's happening without the watch ringing
  • The primary parent or guardian can deactivate SOS — open the alert in the app and tap Turn Off SOS
Note:

SOS does not call 911. It is a parent alert system. If your child needs emergency services, 911 must be enabled separately.

Notifications

Managing Notification Preferences

Control which push notifications you receive from the Cosmo app.

Step 1  Go to Controls in the app.

Step 2  Tap Push Notifications.

Step 3  Toggle categories on or off.

Notification Categories

All categories are opted in by default:

  • Connection Requests — Buddy requests and guardian invites
  • Device Usage — Watch power on/off, subscription events
  • Location — Safezone entry and exit alerts
  • Step / Fitness Goals — Goal reached notifications
  • SOS and Emergencies — SOS alerts, emergency calls
Note:

If your phone's system notifications are turned off for the Cosmo app, the app will display a 'notifications blocked' status. Go to your phone's Settings > Notifications > Cosmo to re-enable.

Activity Feed

What Is the Activity Feed?

The Activity feed is a single, chronological log of everything important that's happened across your child's device and account. Think of it as your safety and awareness dashboard.

Accessing the Activity Feed

Tap Activity in the bottom navigation. Filter by child (if you have multiple) or by event category to find what you're looking for.

Event Types in the Feed

  • Device power on and off events
  • Routine location entry and exit notifications
  • SOS trigger alerts
  • Emergency call activity
  • Buddy requests and approvals
  • Low battery alerts
  • Location check-ins
  • Device activation status/events
  • Subscription expiry alerts
  • Guardian and co-parent requests and approvals
  • Step goal reached

Subscription Expiry

If your subscription expires, you'll see visual indicators in the app — on the Controls nav, your child's profile, and the map. The watch will be hidden from the map and blocked until resubscribed.

  • An expiry notification and activity feed entry are generated when your subscription lapses
  • Tap the expiry module to resubscribe directly — your phone number is retained where possible
Note:

Make sure billing notifications are enabled on your phone so you don't miss an expiry warning.

FAQs

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (COSMO APP)

Q: Is the new Cosmo app free?

A: Yes! The Cosmo app is included with every Cosmo Membership at no extra charge.

Q: Do I need to re-download the app if I already have it?

A: If you are eligible for an update to the new app, please check by logging into the parent portal and the home page will provide direction if you are available for the update! If you are eligible flow instructions within the parent portal.

Q: Can two parents use the app at the same time?

A: Yes. The Primary account can invite Guardians , giving them their own login and access to location, messages, and settings. You'll both stay in the loop, on your own phones, with your own login.

Q: Can I share my login with my partner?

A: We recommend inviting your partner as a Guardian instead — that way you each get your own account, your own notifications, and your own peace of mind.

Q: What happens to my data from the old app?

A: Data from the old Mission Control app does not transfer to the new Cosmo app. This includes photos, messages, call history, contacts, Safe Zones, Focus Modes and settings. We recommend saving anything important before you begin.

Q: Is the app available on both iOS and Android?

A: Yes! The Cosmo app is available on both the App Store and Google Play.

Q: Can I use the app without cellular on the watch?

A: All features require an active Cosmo Membership that provides cellular service.

Q: How do I review my child's call history?

A: Open the app, tap your child's profile, and tap 'Call history' to see the full call history.

Q: Can my child see that I'm checking their location?

A: No. Your child cannot see when you check their location. Location updates happen in the background and are only visible to the primary parent and guardians in the Cosmo app.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (SCHOOL-Fi ROUTINE)

Q: What's the difference between School-Fi Routine and the old Focus Mode?

A: Focus Mode was a manual, time-based setting. School-Fi Routine is smarter,  it uses both schedules AND your child's actual location to activate. If your child is home sick, School-Fi Routine stays off. No manual override needed.

Q: Can my child still call me during School Routine?

A: Depends on the level of restriction.

  • Fully restricted - Child can only activate SOS
  • Partially restricted - Child can only activate SOS, call or message primary parent or guardians.
  • Unrestricted - Child uses the device as normal.

Q: What if my child's school doesn't show up in the search?

A: No problem, you can manually enter any address in the location search bar and set a custom geofence. Simply type in the school’s address and adjust the radius to cover the school grounds.

Q: Can I customize what's blocked during the School-Fi Routine?

A: Yes. The Primary parent can adjust restriction levels to match their family’s needs.

Q: What happens during lunch or recess?

A: School-Fi Routine stays active throughout the full school day schedule, including lunch and recess. This is by design — it ensures consistent focus during all school hours. If your child needs to reach you during a break, they can still contact approved guardians at any time pending the level of restrictions set.

Q: Can my child turn off School-Fi Routine?

A: No. School-Fi Routine can only be modified or deactivated by Primary or Guardian. Kids can't override it.

Q: Is School-Fi Routine available on JT5 (original)?

A: School-Fi Routine is a feature of the new Cosmo app platform. If you have the original JT5 and update to the new Cosmo app, School-Fi Routine will be available to you as well. Check the Parent Portal to see if your device is eligible for the Cosmo app update.

Q: How does the watch know my child is at school?

A: The Cosmo app uses GPS location combined with the school address you set to verify your child is on school grounds. The routine only activates when both the time condition AND the location condition are met.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (UPDATE)

Q: Do I have to switch to the new app?

A: The update is optional for now, but strongly recommended. The new Cosmo app includes significant improvements including Routines, a redesigned parent experience, and the foundation for everything we are building next. The Mission Control app will continue to work for existing customers in the near term, but support will be phased out. We'll communicate that timeline well in advance.

Q: Will my child's watch still work during the update?

A: During the update process, the watch will temporarily go offline — typically for a few minutes. Once the update is complete and you have set up your new profile in the Cosmo app, the watch will reconnect and resume normal operation. We recommend starting the migration when your child doesn’t need immediate access to the watch.

Q: Why doesn't my data transfer?

A: The new Cosmo app is built on a completely different platform, it is not an update to the old app, it is an entirely new system. Think of it like switching to a new phone: your old data does not automatically come with it. A fresh start also means a faster, more stable, and more secure experience going forward.

Q: What data will NOT transfer?

A: The following will not transfer: photos and videos, messages and call history, your contacts list, Safe Zones, Focus Time/Routine schedules, watch settings (wallpaper, ringtones, etc.), activity/step history, and alarms. We recommend saving or screenshotting anything important before you begin.

Q: How do I save my photos before migrating?

A: Open the Cosmo app and navigate to your child’s message history. Tap on any photo to open it, then use your phone’s share or save option to download it to your camera roll or forward it to yourself via text.. Repeat for each photo you want to keep before starting the migration.

Q: How long does the update take?

A: The device update takes a few minutes. Setting up your new profile -- re-entering contacts, setting up Routines, etc. -- takes approximately 10 minutes. Budget about 15 minutes total for a smooth experience.

Q: What if I have multiple devices on my account?

A: You can migrate one or multiple devices at once. You will select which devices to update in the parent portal flow. Each device gets its own fresh setup in the new app.

Q: Do I need to re-enter all my contacts?

A: Yes -- contacts will need to be re-added in the new Cosmo app. We recommend taking a picture or screenshot of your current contacts list before migrating. The new contact setup flow is quick and straightforward.

Q: Will my Cosmo Membership be affected?

A: No. Your Cosmo Membership continues uninterrupted through the update. You will not lose any service or be charged again.

Q: What if something goes wrong during the update?

A: Our support team is here to help! Contact us at support@cosmotogether.com.

Q: Can I go back to the old app if I change my mind?

A: Once you have updated to the new Cosmo app and the device has been reset, reverting to Mission Control is not possible. This is why we strongly recommend saving your photos, contacts, and settings before you begin. If you have questions or concerns before migrating, contact our support team at support@cosmotogether.com — we’re happy to walk you through it.

Q: What happens to my old Mission Control account after I migrate?

A: Once you have migrated, your Mission Control account will no longer be linked to that device. Your new Cosmo app account becomes the active parent account going forward. Your Cosmo Membership continues uninterrupted — nothing changes on the billing side.
